- Time: Set a hard stop. Mine is 6pm. After that, the business doesn't exist until morning.
- Emotional investment: Not every slow week means failure. Separate your identity from your revenue.
- Other people's opinions: Build the brand for people who get it. Release everyone else.
Building Your Inner Circle
3-4 people who understand what you're building. Weekly 20-minute check-ins. Not a meeting — a coffee, a voice note. Someone who asks: did you do what you said you would do?
This is not arrogance. It is self-preservation. Your energy is your most valuable resource.
When You Want to Quit: The 48-Hour Rule
Most quitting urges pass within 48 hours. Set a timer. Sleep on it twice. If it passes: you were tired. If it doesn't: dig deeper — is this exhaustion (fixable) or misalignment (change direction)?
The founders I admire most are not the ones who never wanted to quit. They are the ones who wanted to quit and decided to keep going anyway.
